Working in small groups of 3, the Converse interns were tasked to participate in a 3-day cross-functional competition to solve for Converse’s biggest areas of growth. We were prompted to develop an innovative business idea outside of footwear and apparel that Converse could develop to fuel their next level of growth.
To tackle this prompt, our team decided to pitch the idea of insoles. As a historically uncomfortable shoe, we wanted to find a way to reel in the customers that are turned off by Converse’s lack of arch support and cushion. Instead of having to go through the inconvenience of buying expensive insoles from our competitors and cutting them to the shape of the shoe, we decided to create an alternative: the CONsoles.
As the only designer on my team, I was tasked to design the presentation, as well as translate all of the data into succint visualizers. Additionally, I created product and advertising mockups, online Figma mockups for the Converse website, and physical in-store mockups.
How can I display the data we gathered in a digestable, engaging way? How do I create slides that stay accurate to the research, but stays true to our brand identity?
I created a digital figma mockup displaying how the insoles category would be featured on converse.com. As can be seen, the category is highlighted under the ‘Accessories’ and ‘Featured Collections’ tab.
Additionally, I created a video mockup that showcases the insoles as a suggested add-on after adding a pair of Chucks to the cart.
Finally, I explored what the physical equivalent would look like: the insoles would be located at the cash wrap, where customers often look to to make last-minute purchase decisions.
